About us

The owners behind Glampods Shepherd’s Huts Ltd have been in the garden building industry for over 20 years.

We started out making sheds, summerhouses and stables and gradually moved onto manufacturing buildings for the leisure industry.

We now exclusively make our own range of flat-packed shepherd’s hut and garden room kits. We pride ourselves on our excellent quality but affordable builds with friendly, helpful customer service. We’re based in the heart of England in the UK and we are only ever a phone call away for prospective and existing customers.

Each product we sell has a ‘base kit’ component which comprises the main shell of the building. Then we have a range of optional extras such as cladding and insulation, allowing you to buy them from us or anywhere you like in order to achieve any finish you desire.

Lowered Axles - A free exchange for our taller, standard axles

  • These lowered axles will bring your shepherd’s hut overall height down to 2.9M (standard height is 3.2M)
  • The height from the ground to the eaves will be 2.45M.
  • This option is not compatible with the drawbar or turntable options.

Steps

Made from strong 50mm thick pine timber, a pair of steps will allow you to get in and out of your shepherd’s hut without risking a muscle injury.

Buy them to match either your single or double doors. If you’re having our lowered axles, we’ll build your steps shorter to match.

Internal Partition

Studwork for a partition, enabling you to section the inside of your hut into separate rooms. 

Useful if you intend to build a bathroom, store room or similar. We build a doorway into each partition, enabling you to fit an internal door or curtain if required. 

By default, we build the door opening in the centre of the partition, if you’d like it offset to the right or left, just let us know.

If opting for a partition, we will need to know exactly where in the hut it will be placed as this may affect how we build your kit.

If you’re purchasing our 12mm internal tongue and groove cladding for the inside of your shepherd’s hut, don’t forget to also add the same cladding option for your partition.

Metal Base 6m Turntable Drawbar

A Turntable allows you to easily turn your shepherd’s hut as you tow it.

It replaces the standard front axle of your hut.

We highly recommend purchasing the drawbar with this option for easy towing.

The drawbar and turntable upgrades are not compatible with our LOWERED axles.

Metal Base 6m Turntable Drawbar

A drawbar allows you to easily tow your shepherds hut in a straight line when you need to move it.

It fixes easily to the front axle of your hut and is compatible with both the standard axle and the turntable.

If you require your shepherd’s hut to be able to turn when towing, you’ll also need the turntable upgrade.

Foam Insulation Boards

Important Information about our timber cladding:

Tongue and Groove Cladding – This cladding is provided in UNCUT lengths. We always provide adequate amounts for each build. We calculate this based on the assumption that the kit will be clad horizontally. If you are planning to clad vertically, please contact us prior to ordering.

Each kit is individual with most customers wanting their own window and door layout. Because of this, we are unable to provide a cutting list and it is essential that you, the customer are able to calculate the most efficient cutting method to cover all panels with minimum wastage.

We do not provide finishing strips, skirting, coving, beading or fixings for cladding. You will need to purchase these from a local DIY merchant if required.

Important notes about our external metal cladding:

We provide this cladding as two different sheet sizes; 2.1m x 1m for the long sides and 2.5m x 1m for the ends.

With this metal cladding, we also supply four corner fascias (barge board flashing), metal screws and colour coded screw caps.

The customer is responsible for cutting out the window and door apertures and to accommodate the end curves.

It is always a good idea to pre-plan all cuts and fitments beforehand. Measure twice and cut once is a good rule to follow.

You will receive five longer sheets for the hut ends in order to accommodate the curve of the roof. One of these sheets will need to be cut in half, so that you have two and a half sheets for each hut end.

Our Metal Base Frames are constructed from steel box metal and are an upgrade to the tanalised timber base frame that comes as standard with our shepherd hut kits.

Each metal base frame comes with a wooden floor frame that sits inside it as pictured. The supplied OSB flooring is then fixed down to this.

Box Metal Used:

Shepherd’s hut kit sizes 3.6, 4.2 and 4.8m:

40mm x 80mm Box Metal

Shepherd’s hut kit sizes 5.4 and 6m:

50mm x 100mm Box Metal

The 6m shepherds hut kit comes with a metal base as standard.

For all other sizes, it is an optional extra.

External Featheredge – all overlap boards for the exterior should be installed with approximately 20mm overlap and no less, as the boards can naturally shrink in hot weather.

Under very extreme weather conditions, the boards can twist and move if they are not securely fixed. Avoid fixing the boards too close to the edge as this may split the boards.
